The weather calmed down, giving us a window of opportunity. The goal is to find a location 5-6 hours away and at 8-10 knots we can cover 40-60 miles. Apalachicola is our “winner”. Our first-choice marina was booked, so we stayed at a long dock equipped with electricity and water. Approach is straightforward which is good since the Captain has a bit of docking PTSD to overcome. There are a bunch of folks on the dock and we discover we are crashing a wedding rehearsal. It was daunting to have an audience, but the two of us made it look like we knew what we were doing. LOL. There were no deck hands to catch a line making it more of a challenge. Alan was at the helm, and I lassoed a piling to pull us in and tie off to a cleat. Easy peasy. Like I have been on the rodeo circuit for years! 😉 Father of the bride was very nice but a bit antsy thinking we would still be there the next day. Not to worry, we had places to go! Our dock is in the middle of a quaint area and walking distance to everything. There is a very quirky and fun biscuit place less than 50 yards from our boat. It is painted to look like a food truck and has doors that open when serving. Here is the beautiful sunrise before we pushed away from the dock.
