Our Loop Adventure

April 15, 2025

We eagerly depart for our next stop: Ft Pierce City Marina. There are extravagant houses all along the coast.

There was a huge boat on a lift and it is nearly as big as the house!

We contemplate what kind of boat lift that must be to hoist such a large vessel!!

Apparently channel markers make good nest locations. Here is a family of 3 Osprey on their nest at green Marker 17.

Our speed is adjusted to slow so we can arrive at high tide to avoid current. Tide changes cause increased current as it flows from high to low. Voyage is way more complicated than driving a car. There is wind, tide (water level AND current) in addition to the typical weather forecast to take into account when planning. It is all part of the adventure! Docking is non-eventful because we did all our preparation.

We love this marina. There are dock gates for security, on-site amenities are plentiful, and the town of Ft Pierce is all within walking distance including an Enterprise rental car facility. Crabby’s has a walk-up bar and next door is Sweet Willie’s ice cream so we are happy campers!  Huge fish are visible from the dock. Apparently they are very intelligent too since they know the sign prohibits their capture.

We catch up with our friends on m/v Good Karma, enjoy a meal together and share boat tales since our last gathering.

Nauti Nerds is secured including extra lines and a trail camera so we can keep track of her while we drive home to see Kelly, attend many appointments and the AGLCA Spring Rendezvous event in Norfolk. Good timing since it is Easter and we can get some quality family time. Enterprise is a short walk away and we pick up another one-way rental. We need to have a cracked isinglass panel replaced on our helm. The tag of the original provider is still intact and we arrange to drop it off at their Palm Coast location on our way home.
