It was our plan to head across Mobile Bay to Gulf Shores, a short 3 hour cruise, but we are FOGGED in…time to replan.
This photo shows how thick the fog was. There is a tall bridge hidden in this “pea soup”. At one point we thought fog was clearing and we decided to give it a try. We don’t get far, realizing we had veered way outside of the channel and into shallow waters 🫣 We turn around slowly and head back to the marina. I call and alert them to our return. This is typically not a problem for a marina. Any boats planning to arrive would not be able to just like we weren’t able to leave. We quickly learn this is how it works in the boating world. There is no shame in returning. You must never proceed into unsafe conditions; conditions are always in flux.

We moved the boat to a slip and drove back to Columbus MS in a one-way rental to get our car. We left our car where we started in Columbus, MS. We drove back to DFW for Kelly’s pinning ceremony on Dec 12 and graduation on Dec 13.
