Our Loop Adventure

November 30, 2024

There is an app called “Anchor Pro” which will track a selected drift distance and then an alarm will sound. Within the hour the alarm sounded and we decided to reset the anchor. In the dark. 😳 Using our boat spot light and high power flashlight. Anchor set very well the second time. Poor Alan was up every two hours checking on the anchor and the generator (runs all night to provide power and heat). I was tired/weak from being sick and not much help. We rise at daybreak hoping for an early start. The setting is gorgeous. Poor Nauti Nerds is covered in a thin layer of frost 🥶.

While underway we contact the marina where we have a reservation to see if they have an engine repair recommendation. He responds quickly and agreed to take a look when we arrive. We catch up to 3 boats and assume they are headed to the same destination. A quick check on Nebo (looper app to track each other)  confirms they are all loopers and likely will need refueling just like us. We got us a convoy! Passing them would have been an option and we could have arrived at the fuel dock first but that would just be rude! We do another sit and spin routine just outside the marina since the fuel dock can only take 3 boats at a time. Hmm, maybe we should have burned a little boat karma and passed at least one boat 😉. Here is a photo of our trail doing a sit and spin until we were invited to the fuel dock at Kingfisher Bay Marina.

We settle in at our assigned slip and want to see the Aggie vs Longhorn football game but Spectrum does not allow us to remote view main channels (ABC). There is ONE sports bar here but they are only open till 9 and the game starts at 6:30. There are no taxis or Uber here in Demopolis. 🤯 We are both exhausted and decide to eat from our well stocked pantry and listen to the game on Sirius radio. It’s a good thing we stayed on the boat since Alan was asleep before kickoff and I dozed off during second quarter. 😴 Aggies lost and it wasn’t all that exciting. Guess we didn’t miss much.
